Accent Wall Wallpaper in Hialeah Gardens

The short answer

WallStyle Installers creates accent walls in Hialeah Gardens homes, usually in a single visit. We help you choose the wall and paper, prep and prime the surface, center the design and finish the edges so the wall looks planned, not patched on.

Hialeah Gardens sits at the northwest edge of Miami-Dade County, roughly 19 miles north of the Miami base where WallStyle Installers is located, and we make the trip regularly for single-wall wallpaper projects. A statement wall is a low-risk way to bring pattern into a home: it needs only a few rolls, finishes in about a day and can be changed later without redoing the whole room. Below, we walk through an accent wall job in the order it actually happens, from the first photo you send to the moment the furniture goes back.

Step One: Photos and a Short Conversation

Most projects begin with a couple of pictures. A straight-on shot of the wall, one from the doorway and a close-up of the surface tell us a lot: the texture, the paint sheen, where the outlets sit and how much natural light the room gets. If you already have a paper in mind, include its product page so we can check the pattern repeat and the recommended adhesive.

From there we may suggest a different wall. The wall facing the entry often makes more impact than the one behind the couch, and a wall without windows is simpler and uses less material.

Step Two: Measuring and Ordering

We measure height and width and calculate how many strips the wall needs, then add for the pattern repeat. Large-scale designs can waste a good amount of each roll, so the count is not just square footage. Order every roll from the same production run so the color is consistent, and plan for at least one spare in case of a damaged strip or a future repair.

  • Measure height at both ends of the wall
  • Check the repeat length on the label
  • Order all rolls with matching batch numbers
  • Keep one spare roll for later repairs

Step Three: Prep Day

Before any paper is cut, the wall is cleared and protected. We take off outlet and switch covers, lay drop cloths and pull furniture a few feet away. Then we patch holes, knock down ridges and remove any flaking paint. Glossy paint gets a light sanding so primer can grip.

A wallcovering primer goes on next. It helps paper stick firmly and also makes future removal far easier, because the adhesive bonds to the primer instead of the drywall. On the outside-facing walls of concrete-block homes, common across this part of the county, we also check for moisture coming through from outside.

Step Four: Hanging and Trimming

We mark a vertical line with a level, set the first strip so the main motif lands where you want it and work outward. Each strip is matched to the one beside it, smoothed out and trimmed at the ceiling and baseboard. On a single wall, the corners are where quality shows. We cut each corner straight and clean so the paper meets the adjoining painted wall without a gap or a smear of paste.

Cover plates go back on, and any adhesive on the face of the paper is wiped off while it is still fresh.

Step Five: Letting It Cure

Wallpaper adhesive needs steady conditions for the next several days. In South Florida that means keeping the AC on. Through the long hot season from May to October, outside air is very humid, so avoid propping doors open or switching the system off while you are away. Hold off on hanging pictures or mounting a TV on the new wall for a week or two.

If a hurricane threatens during the June 1 to November 30 season, we will help you pick a date that keeps the curing period clear of storm prep and possible outages.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Honest assessment

If a wall is too damp, too textured or a poor match for the paper you picked, we say so and suggest a fix or an alternative before work begins.

  2. Careful layout

We measure, check pattern repeats and plan where each strip lands so the finished room looks balanced from the doorway.

  3. Clean, respectful work

Floors and furniture are covered, fixtures are removed and replaced, and paste and trimmings are cleaned up before we go.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (561) 933-9440 and we’ll talk it through.

Which wall should be the accent wall?

Usually the one you see first on entering the room, or the one behind the main piece of furniture. We can help you decide on site.

Can an accent wall have a window on it?

Yes. It takes more cutting and planning, and the pattern has to stay level around the frame, but it can look great.

Do I need a primer under wallpaper?

We strongly recommend it. Primer improves adhesion and makes the paper much easier to remove later.

How soon can I mount a TV on the wall?

Give the adhesive a week or two to cure before drilling through the paper.

Will one wall look odd next to painted walls?

Not if the paint color complements the paper. We can suggest pulling a shade from the pattern for the other walls.

Ready to plan your walls?

Tell us about the room, the paper you have in mind and your timing. We will set up a visit to look at the walls and talk through the next steps.
