The short answer
WallStyle Installers installs wallpaper murals in Medley, FL. We confirm the print size against the real wall, fix surface flaws that would show in the image, and align each numbered panel so the picture flows without breaks.
A wall mural turns one surface into a scene: a beach at sunrise, a jungle of oversized leaves, a skyline, a starry sky over a child's bed, or a photo you took yourself. Medley homeowners usually want a mural in one key room, and the result depends heavily on how carefully the panels go up. WallStyle Installers drives about 18 miles north from our Miami base to install murals in Medley, and we treat each one like a puzzle where every piece has to land exactly in place.
Before the mural is printed
The most common mural problem has nothing to do with installation. It happens at the ordering stage, when a wall is measured once, quickly, and the print ends up an inch short or the main subject sits behind a dresser. We prefer to measure in several places, because walls are rarely the same width at the top and bottom, and floors and ceilings are rarely perfectly level.
We also look at what will block the image. Doors, windows, a TV, a bed or a tall bookcase can cover a large share of the picture. If we know where those sit, you can shift the artwork in the designer's preview so the most important part stays visible.
- Measure width at top, middle and bottom; height at both ends and center
- Add the manufacturer's recommended bleed on each side
- Note doors, windows, switches, vents and large furniture
- Choose a material based on the room: non-woven, vinyl or peel-and-stick
Wall prep for a picture, not a pattern
With repeating wallpaper, a small bump can hide in the pattern. With a mural, a bump might land in the middle of a smooth sky or a face, where everyone will see it. So we spend real time on the surface: filling holes from old hangers and mounts, sanding ridges and paint drips flat, and skimming spots where drywall tape shows. Then we roll on a wallcovering primer.
Moisture gets checked on exterior concrete-block walls, which are common in Medley homes. During the hot, wet months from May into October, the inside face of a block wall cooled by AC can hold moisture. Paper should only be hung once a wall reads dry.
Installing panel by panel
We unpack the panels, check the numbers against the supplier's layout sheet, and lay them out in order to confirm the image lines up before any paste comes out. The first panel is hung to a plumb line rather than to a wall corner, since corners are seldom true. Each following panel is matched along the full length of the seam, adjusting gently until lines in the image connect.
Openings are cut after each panel is smoothed in place. Bleed is trimmed at the ceiling and baseboard last, once every panel is up, so the image is finished evenly around the whole wall.
Choosing the right mural material for Medley weather
Non-woven murals are our usual recommendation for bedrooms and living areas. They are stable, do not stretch when wet and strip off in full panels later. Vinyl-faced murals suit kitchens, kids' rooms and hallways where scrubbing may be needed. Peel-and-stick murals are convenient, but in a humid climate they need a very smooth, fully cured painted wall and steady AC to stay put. Long outages during hurricane season, from June 1 through November 30, are hardest on peel-and-stick edges.
Strong sunlight can fade any printed image over time, so window treatments on a sun-facing wall will help the colors last.
