The short answer
WallStyle Installers hangs and removes wallpaper in every room of Richmond Heights homes and businesses. We match materials to each space, from vinyl in baths to grasscloth in bedrooms, and prepare walls properly for South Florida humidity.
Richmond Heights is an unincorporated neighborhood in Miami-Dade County, about four miles east of our base, and WallStyle Installers works there alongside Cutler Bay, South Miami, Coral Gables, West Miami and Sweetwater. Rather than talk about wallpaper in general, we have organized this page around the rooms people most often ask us to transform. Each room has its own challenges in a warm, damp climate, and knowing them up front makes it easier to choose a paper you will still love years from now.
Bathrooms and powder rooms
Small rooms are where bold wallpaper shines. A powder room can carry a large floral, a dark botanical or a metallic geometric that would feel heavy elsewhere. Full bathrooms are trickier because of shower steam.
For any bath in Richmond Heights, we steer clients toward solid vinyl or vinyl-coated papers, hung with a mildew-resistant adhesive over a sealed, primed wall. We also recommend running the exhaust fan during and after showers. Seams are rolled flat and edges near tubs and sinks are kept tight so water cannot creep behind the sheet.
Kitchens and laundry rooms
Cooking steam, splashes and fingerprints call for a scrubbable surface. Vinyl wallcovering handles all three. Behind a breakfast nook or on the wall above open shelving, a printed vinyl can add personality without the worry. In laundry rooms, where the dryer adds heat and humidity, the same logic applies.
Kitchens also tend to have the most interruptions on a wall: cabinets, backsplashes, range hoods, outlets and window trim. Each one means a careful relief cut. We take our time around those edges, because a ragged cut next to a tile backsplash is the first thing the eye catches. Where paper meets tile or countertop, we finish with a clean, straight line and seal the edge so splashes do not soak in.
Bedrooms and living spaces
These conditioned rooms give you the most freedom. Grasscloth, linen, cork and other natural textures bring warmth to a primary bedroom or family room. An accent wall behind a headboard or television lets you test a strong pattern without committing to the entire room.
Natural fibers do have quirks. Grasscloth shows slight color variations between strips, and its seams are visible by design. We walk you through that so the finished look matches your expectations.
Nurseries, playrooms and kids' rooms
Children's spaces change quickly. Peel and stick wallpaper and removable murals are a smart fit, as long as the wall underneath is smooth and painted with a compatible finish. When a child outgrows a theme, the covering comes down without a full removal job. Some peel and stick products do not bond well to fresh paint, so we suggest letting a newly painted wall cure for a few weeks first. For playrooms that take a beating, a washable vinyl may be the better long-term choice.
Ceilings, hallways and entries
A papered ceiling turns an ordinary dining room or entry into a design moment. Hallways, which get lots of brushing hands and bags, benefit from durable vinyl or a textured paper that hides scuffs. Both require careful planning so patterns flow across corners and around doorways.
Overhead work also takes a different approach. Paste is applied and the paper is folded so it can be lifted without stretching, and a second installer supports each strip while it is smoothed into place. We choose a starting line based on the room's main sightline, so the pattern looks straight from the doorway even if the walls themselves are slightly out of square, which is common in older homes.
Behind every room: prep, removal and timing
Whatever room you choose, the wall comes first. We remove existing paper, repair damaged drywall or plaster, sand rough patches and prime. In concrete block homes, which are common in this part of the county, exterior walls may be plaster over block and can need extra smoothing.
Climate shapes timing too. South Florida's wet season runs roughly May through October, with heat and afternoon storms, and hurricane season stretches from June 1 to November 30. If a storm approaches, we may adjust your date, and after heavy weather we confirm walls are dry before covering them.
