The short answer
WallStyle Installers papers entire rooms in South Miami, planning the pattern so the final mismatch falls in a hidden corner. We prep walls for the humidity, recommend papers suited to each room, and hang them plumb and tight.
Papering a full room is a different job from doing one feature wall. Patterns have to travel around corners, over doorways and past windows, and the last strip has to meet the first one somewhere you will not notice the mismatch. WallStyle Installers handles complete rooms for South Miami homeowners: bedrooms, dining rooms, nurseries, hallways, stairwells and bathrooms. The city sits about 11 miles northeast of our Miami base, which makes it an easy drive for consultations and install days. In the sections below we lay out how we plan a whole-room layout, which papers hold up best in local conditions, and how the process runs from first visit to final trim.
Planning a room, not just a wall
Before anything is cut, we walk the room and decide where to start and where to finish. The start point is usually the most visible wall, so the pattern is centered there. The finish point, where the pattern inevitably breaks, goes behind a door, in a corner hidden by a tall cabinet, or above the entry where people rarely look.
Doors and windows are mapped next. Large-repeat patterns can leave awkward slivers over a door frame if the strips fall wrong, so we sometimes shift the starting line a few inches to give a better result. Rooms with sloped ceilings, soffits or archways, which appear in some remodeled South Miami houses, get extra layout time.
Matching paper to the room
Every room in a South Florida home sees different moisture. A bedroom with steady AC is very forgiving. A full bath with a shower is not. We help you pick a product that will still look right after several summers.
We install paper you supply or help you shortlist options. Either way, buy all rolls from one batch number and add enough for pattern matching, plus a spare roll for repairs.
- Bedrooms, living and dining rooms: nonwoven, traditional paper, textured and specialty papers all work well
- Full bathrooms: solid vinyl or vinyl-coated nonwoven that can handle steam and wiping
- Kitchens: scrubbable vinyl, kept clear of the stove backsplash
- Hallways and stairs: durable, washable finishes that tolerate hands and bags brushing past
- Nurseries and kids' rooms: washable and low-odor products
Wall preparation in local homes
Concrete block construction with plaster finishes is common in the city's older neighborhoods, while newer homes and additions use drywall. Both can be papered well once they are smooth, sound and primed. We fill cracks, skim heavy texture, remove loose paint, and treat any stained areas before priming.
Moisture is the main enemy. If a wall shows dampness, bubbling paint or a musty smell, we point it out and recommend finding the cause before we hang paper over it. Covering a damp wall only hides a problem until the paper fails.
What happens on installation day
We arrive, lay drop cloths, pull cover plates and confirm with you the start point and pattern placement. A plumb line goes up on the first wall. Strips are cut to height plus trim allowance, matched to the pattern and pasted following the product's instructions, whether that means pasting the wall, pasting the paper or activating a prepaste.
Each strip is smoothed, seams are lightly rolled, and excess paste is cleaned from the face and from trim. Around windows and doors we make relief cuts and trim tight to the casing. At the end we reinstall plates, clean up offcuts and walk the room with you. Most single rooms take one to two days depending on size, prep needs and the paper.
Keeping new wallpaper in good shape
Steady indoor climate matters more than anything else. Run the AC consistently, use bathroom exhaust fans during and after showers, and avoid letting the house sit shut and warm for long stretches. In the rainy months and during hurricane season, if a power outage lets the house get humid, dry it out gradually once the AC is back. Small edge lifts can usually be re-adhered if they are caught early, so give us a call rather than letting them spread.
