The short answer
WallStyle Installers installs and removes wallpaper across The Hammocks, FL, from condo accent walls to full-house projects. We help you choose a material that suits each room and our humid climate, then prep and hang it properly.
The Hammocks is a large unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County, about 4 miles north of the WallStyle Installers home base. Its neighborhoods mix condos, townhomes and single-family houses built around shared lakes and green spaces, which means the rooms we see vary a lot: compact condo bedrooms, open-plan family rooms, tall entry foyers. Rather than a one-size approach, we match the wallcovering material to the room and the way you use it. Below is a material-by-material guide to what tends to work well in Hammocks homes.
Traditional Paper and Non-Woven
Non-woven wallpaper has become our default suggestion for bedrooms, hallways and living areas. It is breathable, dimensionally stable and usually goes up with paste applied to the wall instead of the back of the paper, which keeps seams tight. When it is time for a change, most non-woven products strip off dry in full sheets.
Classic paper-backed designs still have a place, especially for intricate prints, but they are more sensitive to moisture. We keep those for rooms that stay cool and dry year-round.
Vinyl for Kitchens, Baths and Busy Rooms
Solid vinyl and vinyl-coated papers resist splashes and can be wiped down, which makes them the practical pick for kitchens, laundry rooms, kids' bathrooms and mudroom-style entries. In a Florida bathroom where a shower runs every morning, vinyl paired with a good exhaust fan holds up far better than an uncoated print.
One caution: vinyl does not breathe. On an exterior concrete-block wall that may carry moisture after heavy summer rain, we test the wall first and use a mildew-resistant primer and adhesive.
Grasscloth and Natural Textures
Grasscloth, sisal and other woven fibers bring warmth to a dining room or a primary bedroom. They are also delicate. Seams are visible by nature, colors vary from panel to panel, and the material does not like water. We reverse-hang or blend panels as the manufacturer recommends, keep paste off the face, and advise against using it in bathrooms or beside a sink.
Strong afternoon sun through a west-facing window can fade natural dyes. Sheer curtains or UV film on the glass help preserve the color.
Murals, Peel-and-Stick and Ceilings
Large-format murals are a favorite for kids' rooms, home offices and the wall you see when you walk in the front door. Each mural arrives in numbered panels, and lining them up across an outlet or a window takes patience. We plan the layout so the focal point lands where you want it.
Peel-and-stick is a good fit for condo owners and renters, closets, and small refreshes. It needs a smooth, well-cured painted surface; on fresh paint, we wait for full cure before applying.
Ceiling paper is a quieter option that adds depth to a bedroom or breakfast nook without competing with your furniture.
- Murals: plan the focal point before ordering the panel size
- Peel-and-stick: best on smooth satin or eggshell paint
- Ceilings: lighter patterns keep a room from feeling lower
Climate Notes for The Hammocks
Every material above performs better when the indoor air is stable. From May through October, our region is hot, humid and wet with frequent afternoon storms, while the months from November into April are drier and milder. We ask clients to keep the AC running at a consistent setting during installation and for a couple of days afterward. During hurricane season, from June through November, we can also respond after a storm to remove water-damaged paper, dry and repair the wall, and replace what was lost.
Removal is part of the job too. If your home still has paper from a previous owner, we strip it, repair the surface and prime it so the new material bonds well.
Neighboring Communities
Our crews also work in Sweetwater, Cutler Bay, South Miami, West Miami and Doral, and we take on commercial wallcovering for offices and shops throughout the area.
Condo and townhome owners in The Hammocks sometimes ask whether a building's rules affect interior wallpaper. Usually they do not, but many associations limit contractor hours, require contractors to sign in with management, or ask that work vehicles park in visitor spaces. Tell us about any such rules when we schedule, and we will plan the day around them.
If you are unsure which material belongs in which room, start with the space that bothers you most. We can look at it during a short visit, explain the trade-offs between two or three options in plain terms, and leave you with measurements so you can order the right number of rolls.
