The short answer
WallStyle Installers hangs, removes and repairs wallpaper in West Perrine, FL year-round. We adjust prep and scheduling to the wet season and hurricane season so your new wallcovering stays tight and clean.
West Perrine is an unincorporated neighborhood in southern Miami-Dade County, roughly 4 miles east of the WallStyle Installers shop. Its homes are largely single-story concrete-block houses, and like everywhere in South Florida, they live through a long wet season, a hurricane season and months of steady air conditioning. Wallpaper can thrive in these conditions, but only when the work is timed and prepped with the calendar in mind. So this page is organized by season: what we watch for, and what we recommend, at each point in the year.
November Through April: The Easy Window
The months from November into April are warmer than most of the country but noticeably drier here. Lower humidity speeds up drying between steps, which makes this the most comfortable stretch for projects that involve heavy removal, skim coating or several rooms at once.
Many West Perrine homeowners use this window for whole-house refreshes: stripping out dated paper, repairing the walls and hanging something new in living rooms, bedrooms and hallways. It is also a good time for grasscloth and other natural fibers, which are the most sensitive to moisture while being installed.
May Through October: Wet Season Prep
Once the wet season arrives, the air turns hot and heavy and afternoon thunderstorms are common. We keep installing through these months, with a few extra steps:
- Moisture readings on every exterior block wall before priming
- Mildew-resistant primer and adhesive where walls run damp
- AC kept on at one steady setting during the job and for a couple of days after
- Extra care at seams near exterior doors, where humid air enters most
- Vinyl or coated papers recommended for bathrooms and laundry areas
June Through November: Hurricane Season
The Atlantic hurricane season overlaps most of the wet season, running from June 1 to November 30. If a storm is in the forecast, we may move an install by a few days so fresh paper is not left curing in a house that could lose power and cooling.
After a storm, water can find its way through window frames, sliding doors or a damaged roof. Wallpaper over a wet wall traps moisture, and that is where mildew starts. We remove the affected paper, let the wall dry thoroughly, repair any softened drywall and hang new covering only when the surface reads dry. If you saved a leftover roll from the original job, we can often make the repair blend in with the rest of the room.
Any Time of Year
Some projects do not depend on the season at all. Accent walls, murals in a child's room, peel-and-stick in a closet, or a patterned ceiling over a dining table can all be done in a day or two in an air-conditioned home.
Small businesses in and around West Perrine can schedule commercial vinyl installs whenever it suits their hours, and we can work in sections so the space stays open.
Rentals are another year-round job. Landlords preparing a unit between tenants often want a quick, durable update, and a single accent wall in scrubbable vinyl can make a listing photo stand out without adding much upkeep. We can coordinate with the turnover schedule so the wall is finished before cleaners and new tenants arrive.
The Wall Under the Paper
Whatever the season, good results depend on the surface. Concrete-block exteriors are often finished inside with plaster or furred-out drywall, and either one can carry cracks, nail pops or patches from earlier work. We fill, sand and prime before we hang, and we skim coat textured walls so they read flat under the paper.
Where Else We Work
Our crews also serve Cutler Bay, South Miami, Coral Gables, Homestead and West Miami, covering the whole range of wallpaper installation, removal and repair.
Because West Perrine is a short drive from our shop, follow-up visits are easy to arrange. If something does not look right a week after installation, such as a seam that needs another roll or a corner that lifted after a stormy stretch, let us know and we will come take a look.
